Dr. Watt completed her undergraduate medical training at McMaster University in 2015 and her Family Medicine training at McGill University in 2017. She then returned to Ottawa to complete her Palliative Medicine Enhanced Skill Training in 2018. Prior to medicine, she obtained a Bachelors of Health Science from the University of Ottawa and a Masters of Science in Human Genetics at McGill University.
Dr. Watt now joins the Division of Palliative Medicine at the University of Ottawa as an appointed lecturer. Her academic interests include palliative delirium and neuropalliative care, as well as integrating basic science into palliative care research.

Faculty Career Path: Clinician Scientist
Dr. Wells is Professor and Chair / Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital. He is a senior scientist in the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. He has a clinical practice in venous thromboembolic diseases and performs both laboratory and clinical trials research in the area of venous thromboembolism. Dr. Wells’ particular interests have been in the area of improving diagnosis in patients with suspected DVT or pulmonary embolism and novel ways of treating patients. Economic issues associated with diagnostic and treatment issues have also been an interest as well as meta-analytic techniques for determining efficiencies of treatments that have not been subjected to large-scale clinical trials.

Faculty Career Path: Clinician Administrator
Dr. Wielgosz is a staff cardiologist at The Ottawa Hospital – General campus. He holds the rank of Full Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He also has consulting privileges at the Pembroke General Hospital.
Dr. Wielgosz has Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Masters in Physiology (MSc) degrees from the University of Toronto. His medical degree (MD) was obtained at McMaster University in 1974. Following completion of residency training in Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, he underwent fellowship training on a Heart and Stroke Foundation fellowship in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars program in Chapel Hill, NC. While there he obtained a PhD in Public Health from the University of North Carolina.
Dr Wielgosz holds fellowships with the Royal College of Physicians in Canada in Internal Medicine and Cardiology and he is licensed to practice in Ontario and North Carolina.
In addition to providing clinical care, Dr Wielgosz has been actively involved with the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the World Heart Federation, having served on the Board of Directors of both organizations. He remains a spokesperson for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. He is also a medical consultant for Transport Canada and for the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Faculty Career Path: Clinician Investigator
Dr. Kumanan Wilson is a specialist in General Internal Medicine at the Ottawa Hospital. He is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, Senior Scientist in the Clinical Epidemiology Program at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICESuOttawa). Â He also holds a Research Chair in Public Health Policy from The Ottawa Hospital, the Department of Medicine and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.
Dr. Wilson has examined the use of social media to communicate vaccine messages. He is currently using health administrative data at ICES to evaluate the safety of pediatric vaccines through an initiative called VISION (Vaccine and Immunization Surveillance in Ontario). He is also the co-developer of the ImmunizeCA app to help individuals track their or their children’s immunizations http://www.immunize.ca/en/app.aspx
