Head and University Chair of the Division of Cardiology
An international leader in cardiovascular nuclear imaging, Dr. Rob Beanlands is director of the National Cardiac PET Centre, Chief of Cardiac Imaging and Director of the Molecular Function and Imaging Program at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. He is also a Professor in the Divisions of Cardiology and Radiology at the University of Ottawa’s Department of Medicine.
He received his MD from the University of Ottawa in 1983 and was the gold medallist. He was certified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Internal Medicine in 1988, and in Cardiology in 1989, while carrying out his training at the University of Toronto. He is also certified by the following American boards: Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine, and the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. He gained expertise as a Research Fellow in Nuclear Cardiology at the University of Toronto in 1990 and in PET imaging at the University of Michigan between 1990 and 1992.
